The island of Isla Bastimentos offers the picturesque beaches worthy of any postcard. However we found the prices on the island a bit frustrating at times given the “need” to take water taxis to most beaches. For example, to take the less than 10 minute boat ride from the main island costs $5. From the main dock of Bastimentos to Red Frog Beach an even shorter ride is another $5 in top of a $3 entrance. Lost in Panama: On the way to the 3 Lost Waterfalls

After being in Boquete for 3 weeks we finally did our first hike though we didn’t get to our desired destination. We were dropped off in front of a group of signs and two different options for our walk/hike. We went up the street towards Sendero Los Quetzales and The 3 Lost Waterfalls (1.2 km). Our goal was the waterfalls. We rolled into a trail and paid a $5 entrance fee to Sendero Agroeco Trail, less frequented than the other hikes nearby. The Secrets of Sendero Los Angeles- A walkable, breathable Los Angeles

Each day we recommended tours and routes around the area of San Gerardo de Rivas but hadn’t done most of our own recommendations until our 2nd week in. With two days off we decided to start off with the town tour. Going up 500 meters on the Chirripo trail we took the option of descending and detouring towards Sendero (trail) Los Angeles.
