GUATEMALA

After 2 weeks at Lago Atitlan we we’re finally ready to travel again. We made our way to Lanquin leaving the lake at 430 am and arriving at our lodge/hotel at 6pm. Our long travel day led us to two amazing days in Guatemala’s most beautiful place.

Trading beauty for more beauty, welcome to Semuc. We hiked up a bit over a kilometer to the Mirador for this view.

We actually walked 1km and hitched a ride 2km from the entrance. This has been our typical mode of transportation throughout our stay travels in Central America.

We had the option to tube back to Utopia Ecolodge but saved that for the next day. Instead we walked back thinking we would get a free ride up. We didn't :) We had the option to tube back to Utopia Ecolodge but saved that for the next day. Instead we walked back thinking we would get a free ride up. We didn't :)

Of course over the course of a 3km walk through anywhere in Latin America you’re going to see some futbol happening. We stopped at 3-2. I think we lost.Just a picture with a few of the amateur soccer players.

We took a ton of pictures of the scenery which was absolutely gorgeous. We chose this family of turkeys as our subject to the beautiful background. We took a ton of pictures of the scenery which was absolutely gorgeous. We chose this family of turkeys as our subject to the beautiful background.

Hills and beautiful scenery all around us.

The next day more water. This time we went 2 minutes down from our river front cabin and found this tire swing. Even though we only did 2 days it was amazing and one could easily find themselves in the Semuc area for a few weeks or even months if you volunteered at one of the few hostels there.

Dinner setting in an open space overlooking green hills and blue skies. Thanks Semuc, now onwards to Tikal to check out the Mayan Ruins!
